'Les Deux Alpes is one of my favourite places to ski in the summer. The glacier always provides the best quality skiing and the freshest snow. With over 153 million euros invested in the resort, the facilities and infrastructure are high-end and will be some of the best in the Alps.' - Florence Rowson-Stevens
Set at a high altitude of 1650 metres, the village is lively during both summer and winter due to its dual-season nature.
Unlike many traditional resorts, it’s spread across a wide, flat valley, making it easy to explore on foot or bike. The main street 'Avenue de la Muzelle', is in the heart of the village and is lined with a mix of shops, local bakeries, and a variety of restaurants offering everything from mountain cuisine to international dishes.
Les Deux Alpes is also known for its vibrant après-ski scene, with bars like Smithy’s Tavern and L’Avalanche being favourites for both locals and visitors.
Popular for both skiers and snowboarders, Les Deux Alpes provides access to over 200km of slopes, with over 70% of them being at an altitude higher than 2000m. For beginers, it is extra special to have green slopes so high up.
The ski area is suited towards all types of skier/snowboarder and has some excellent off-piste terrain for those wanting to explore themselves.
La Fée is a famous black run with a vertical drop of 760 metres! For a long run to enjoy the beautiful scenery as well as the slope, The Jandri is a blue run which runs almost 10 miles long.
One of the main attractions of Les Deux Alpes in summer is the incredible glaciers providing year round skiing between Girose and Mont de Lans.
For non-skiers, the vast terrain provides a myriad of biking and hiking routes. The summer season usually starts off with the annual Deux Alpes Outdoor Festival, featuring various bike events during the opening week. Another famous summer event is the Mountain of Hell race, which takes riders on an exhilarating downhill, freeride journey from the glacier down to the village of Venosc.
There are also many lakes to enjoy watersports, fishing, swimming as well as more exhilerating activites such as paragliding and an airbag park.
