Our Experts Pick their Favourite Resorts

19 Dec, 2024 by Investors In Property

This Christmas we thought we would give you a little insight into each team member’s personal favourite resort. Although we all appreciate the beauty of every resort, we each have certain aspects we value more than others. Here is the top resort from each of us in our London office!

Simon - Andermatt

Why I love Andermatt – the success story of the Swiss Alps.

Andermatt is the single biggest and most prestigious newbuild property development in the Swiss Alps. The plan to buy the entire town of Andermatt and develop it into a leading ski resort was very ambitious.
I believed in it right from the start and Investors in Property was the first international sales agent appointed to promote the resort. Now that dream has become a reality. First the five-star hotel The Chedi, opened, then the golf course was built, and the ski lifts were extended.

Finally, two years ago Vail Resorts Inc. became the majority shareholder in the lift company as confirmation that Andermatt is now a world-renowned resort. I have loved watching Andermatt grow, and it gets better every year as the facilities are upgraded and new buildings are added, each in a different style.

The skiing is challenging, the town is alive again and the Chedi is magnificent. The Apres-Ski-Zug train with onboard bar and DJ is truly special. Andermatt is a pleasure to visit winter and summer, and it is a special treat to arrive in the centre of the resort by train.

Alex - Saas Fee

I’ve been living, working and skiing in Saas Fee since 2009 and it has truly become my home. The community is incredible and I’ve made lifelong friends who share the same love for the outdoors.

Saas Fee offers a vibrant social scene, with great bars and restaurants for every occasion. Whether it’s grabbing a quick pizza in Boccalinos or dining at a favourite spot like Zur Muhle or Schaferstube. The snow conditions are amazing too, with fresh tracks lasting up to a week after snowfall—something rare in the Alps. The ski pistes stay in excellent condition all winter, right through to the end of April.

Summers in Saas Fee are just as enjoyable. There’s plenty of outdoor activities, from skiing on the glacier (open 10 months of the year) to mountain biking, tennis, beach volleyball and paddle. It’s also just a two-hour drive to the Italian lakes, where you can enjoy pizza or drinks by the water. What makes Saas Fee truly special to me is the personal connections I’ve built here.

Rob – Grimentz

A true hidden gem and certainly not the resort to choose if you’re looking for a vibrant and lively nightlife. Grimentz and the Val d’Anniviers is more of a cult classic of a ski resort, not for everyone, but if it gets under your skin you won’t want to ski anywhere else.

A set of small towns and villages, Grimentz is the one that stands out with its medieval centre and church with roots back to the 17th century. It’s a charming and picture perfect town covered in snow during the winter months and geraniums in the summer. In essence, quintessential Switzerland.

The skiing isn’t too bad either with a great snow record and 4 different areas to choose from. The piste is relatively varied, but particularly good for advanced intermediates with great runs all over the mountains and a fantastic slope back to the centre. New lifts over the years have greatly improved the link-ups and removed one of its few weaknesses.

It’s also one of the best places in Switzerland for off-pisting, with some epic areas of deep powder to explore with a guide. There may be bigger and better resorts out there, but to put it simply, none of them are quite like Grimentz.

Flo – Val d’lsere

Year on year, Val d’lsere has a consistent and loyal spot at number one in terms of my favourite resort. It not only remains in top place, but my love for the place grows stronger each year too. I’m not the only one to think this, as Val d’lsere continues to receive ample investment and new developments with 2025 continuing the trend.

Val d’lsere has everything one would imagine of when dreaming of a quintessential ski resort: fantastic skiing, every designer boutique, exceptional alpine food, a thriving après scene and of course, the most luxurious properties.

For me, the perfect day in the mountains would consist of waking up early in Val d’lsere, enjoying a hearty breakfast and heading to my favourite slope – Mangard. The snow conditions would be perfect (as they always are) and I would take in the mesmerising scenes as I ski down. La Folie Douce would be next on my agenda to après and dance the afternoon away before an exquisite fondue at La Baraque. A visit to a spa also wouldn’t go amiss!

It comes as no surprise that celebrities are now coming over to Val d’lsere too, it is becoming more and more people’s no.1!

Joanne - Kitzbuhel

When asked which resort was in the lead for me this year, the answer came instantly – Kitzbuhel. I hadn’t visited Kitzbuhel that many times before this year, and now I can’t imagine why ever not.

The resort has a very unique town-feel and it’s a place I would visit regardless of the slopes (although they are special too). Walking around the town, the essence of history, character and liveliness is easily seen. Great for shopping, walking, exploring cafes and restaurants, Kitzbuhel has a wonderful charm.

Very famous for its Hahnenkamm downhill ski race, the skiing is exceptional. Next year I intend to watch it with my family and enjoy one of the most famous events across the Alps.

Of course, we love all the resorts and know them exceptionally well. If you would like to find out more about our other resorts or properties on the market, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
